Ever wonder how a car you want appears at your local dealership – or how dealers shuffle inventory between stores hundreds of miles apart? More often than you'd think, they ship them – on the same carrier network that moves customer cars every day. Here's how it works, and why it's useful to know.
Dealers ship constantly
When a dealer locates a car for you at another store, moves aged inventory to a sister lot, or buys at auction, those cars ride on car carriers. Dealer trades, auction purchases, customer special orders – a busy dealership can move plenty of vehicles a month without adding a mile on the odometer.
Auctions run on transport
Places like Manheim move enormous volumes, and every car sold there has to leave somehow. Auctions typically set pickup deadlines and charge storage fees for cars that linger, so transport for auction purchases is booked fast and priced around those deadlines. If you've ever bought through a dealer that sources from auctions, your car likely made at least one trip on a carrier before you ever saw it.
Why you should care as a customer
- The same network serves you. The carriers moving dealer cars are the same kind that can carry yours – professional, insured carriers.
- Your car shares proven processes. The inspection paperwork (bill of lading), condition reports, and loading standards dealers rely on are exactly what protect your personal shipment.
- Pricing works the same way. Distance, route, vehicle size, timing – the same factors shape the price whether the shipper is a dealership or a family.
A broker makes one network work for both
Many dealers work through brokers for the same reason you would: a broker matches each load with a vetted carrier already running that route. That's the same service available for your single car: one call, one quote, one point of contact.
HIYAAKS Inc moves vehicles for dealerships and individual customers alike. Nothing is charged before pickup – a flat $150 deposit is collected by credit card once the carrier picks up your vehicle, and the balance is due at delivery. Get your free quote at hiyaaksincautoshipper.com.
